This cabinet is made of European Oak. The overall design is fairly simple with straight lines and crisp edges throughout. The only extravagances are the book-matched door panels and the drawer fronts that are veneered in oak burr and normally concealed behind the right hand door . This is an “experimental” piece that I made on a one week course with Mike Abbott. The chair is made from cleaved logs of unseasoned ash and is shaped using very simple hand tools and steam bending. This Shoji screen is very close in design to the traditional Japanese screens. It is made in Oak with solid bottom panels and lattices of “kumiko” frames that are covered in Japanese paper. The screen is finished in a matt hardwax oil.

This sideboard was made with European Oak. The most stiking feature is the “coopered” front panels with continuous grain patterns running through the doors and drawer fronts. This coffe table is made in American White Oak. The design is fairly plain with just a chamfer on the legs to add a bit of interest. The table is finished with a matt hardwax oil.

This chair has a very traditional shape but it has been brought up to date by the use of contrasting Maple and American Black Walnut. The drop-in seat is upholstered in brown hide. The chair is finished in shellac polish and wax.

This bedside table is made in Maple and is finished with shellac polish and wax. The drawer is traditionally constructed with a scented Cedar of Lebanon base and the drawer handle is in American Black Walnut.

This box is made from Ash with a veneered panel of Burr Ash, a stripey Ash cross-banding and a brown Oak stringing line and escutcheon. The inside surfaces are veneered in Cedar of Lebanon. The box is finished with shellac polish and wax.
